
This course will provide students with the basics of corporate accounting. Topics will include: recording of stock and dividend transactions, recording transactions related to liabilities, bonds and consolidation.
Students will learn to convert a cash accounting system to an accrual system. Students are introduced to the Statement of Cash Flows. In addition, the student will learn the preparation and presentation of accounting information related to non-profit organizations.
The course is offered during the third semester of the program and its introduces students to corporate accounting and government accounting. Competency 01HV is achieved upon successful completion of this course and Small Business Acounting II (410-211-LE). Competency 01H8 will be achieved upon successful completion of Small Business Accounting I (410-111-LE), Small Business Accounting II (410-211-LE), Computerized Accounting Systems (410-412-LE), and Internal Control and Auditing (410-531-LE). Its objective is to develop the student’s ability:
· to prepare accounting entries and financial statements for a corporation;
· to prepare the statement cash flows;
· to record accurately the inflow and the outflow of cash;
· to process and present accounting information related to not-for-profit organizations;
· to perform accounting services for projects and administrative units.
